This page has details of face to face training that we offer for our volunteers, for example A Safe Space (Safeguarding), First Response (First Aid) and Leadership Qualification sessions as well as training for Going Away With qualifications.

Trainings

Girlguiding NYNE County Leaders Day 15th October 2022

A chance to come together, meet up with old friends and make new ones while strengthening your enthusiasm for Guiding.
You will gain a range of new activities and skills to take back to your unit.

Open to all Girlguiding NYNE County Volunteers: Unit Leaders, Commissioners, Unit Helpers and Young Leaders 16+.

When: 9.45am – 4pm
Where: Lady Lumley’s School. Pickering
Cost: £5 (Training costs are a legitimate unit expense)

Format for the day:
Arrival for 9.45 coffee, sessions starting at 10am, Finishing 4pm

Please bring your own lunch and water bottle / travel mug, a notebook and pen., Tea and coffee will be available please bring a reusable/ travel mug, Wear uniform.

There is a choice of sessions from all the following:

Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) – Explore how you can promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths with your unit and show our members that STEM isn’t just men in white coats!
Music – Do you want to learn new songs, rekindle the old and add extra music into your unit? If so, this session is for you.
Drama – How to support those skills builders and UMAs that call for a spot of drama!
Outdoors – Gain skills and activities that you can share with your girls.
WAGGGS – Resources and activities that show we are 1 of 10 million members – activities from around the world.
Craft – Fun and innovative crafts for all seasons.
           All the above sessions will run twice, once for Rainbow and Brownie Leaders and once for Guide and Ranger leaders.
Fundraising – Tips and advice on raising funds for your unit.
Inclusion – A chance to deepen your understanding of special educational needs and disabilities and how to support those with additional needs in your unit.
           Fundraising and Inclusion sessions will run once during the day and be for all sections.
First Response – It will train you to provide first aid to members in emergencies – in or outside of your unit meeting place.
           First Response will run for the entire day and you need to attend both the morning and afternoon session. It is for all sections.

PLEASE COMPLETE THE ORDER FORM ON EVENTBRITE INDICATING YOUR FIRST 6 PREFERENCES.
You will be allocated a morning and an afternoon session , we will try and give you your top preferences when possible but please note due to group sizes and popularity of some subjects this will not always be possible.

Registration on Eventbrite is free but attending the day costs £5 per person (training is a legitimate unit expense). Places will be confirmed once payment is received.

First Response

Currently there are no additional dates available in County please check the Girlguiding North East England region website (see below) and please keep checking back here for further dates as they are released.

If you already hold a valid 1st aid qualification from another association or your work please check with your commissioner whether it will be accepted before you sign.
